Parliament adjourned to 4 August 2025 to allow PAC review of the 2025 Supplementary Appropriation Bill.

Parliament has been adjourned to Monday, 4 August 2025, to allow the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to conduct its inquiry and prepare a report on the 2025 Supplementary Appropriation Bill, which is currently before the Speaker’s Office.
In Parliament, the Prime Minister stated that the adjournment is necessary to give the PAC adequate time to carry out its mandated responsibilities.
“The main reason for the special adjournment is for the Public Accounts Committee to conduct their inquiries and hearings into the 2025 Supplementary Appropriation Bill,” he said.
He also informed the House that the 2024 Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2025 will be presented to regularise government spending for the previous year.
“There is also the 2024 Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2025, as we need to regularise spending in 2024 also,” he added.
It was noted that the PAC Chair, who is also the Member of Parliament for Central Honiara, has been unwell. The Prime Minister indicated that appointing an interim chair may be necessary to ensure the Committee proceeds with its work.
He also thanked the Chair and members of the Bills and Legislation Committee for their ongoing efforts, particularly their review of the National Building Standards Bill.
Regarding upcoming engagements, the Prime Minister announced a planned official visit to New Zealand from 28 July to 2 August for a bilateral meeting with the New Zealand Prime Minister.
“I will travel to New Zealand from 28 July to 2nd August for a bilateral meeting, following their invitation which I have postponed for quite some time already,” he said.
He also confirmed a planned visit to Rennell and Bellona Province next week to mark the province’s Second Appointed Day.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the adjournment supports due parliamentary process and will allow for proper scrutiny of the 2025 Supplementary Appropriation Bill before debate.
