SIRAP2 Aviation Complex construction progresses steadily to improve Solomon Islands aviation services
Construction of the Aviation Complex Building under the Second Solomon Islands Roads and Aviation Project (SIRAP2) is progressing steadily, with works advancing in line with the updated construction schedule. Funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA), the facility is being constructed by China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRCEG), with Egis Asia providing construction supervision.
Current works include curtain wall frames and panels installation, block wall plastering, and column finishing on the first floor. Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works are underway on both ground and first floors, covering sanitary and water piping, along with electrical, data, and communication conduits installation. Roof-level waterproofing and ground floor toilet tiling are progressing. Externally, construction advances with the guard house, septic tanks, and access road with a closed concrete drainage system as well as base course placement for the access road and car park.
Permanent Secretary of MCA, Alwyn Danitofea, commended the progress, stating: βThe Aviation Complex Building is a critical investment in our aviation infrastructure and improving service delivery. The steady progress reflects the commitment of all stakeholders involved, including the contractor, CRCEG. Once completed, this facility will enhance operational efficiency and provide a modern working environment to better support aviation services in Solomon Islands.β
The Aviation Complex Building represents a cornerstone of ongoing infrastructure development, and its completion will mark a significant step toward delivering modern, resilient, and efficient aviation facilities for the nation.
