
Prime Minister Matthew Wale arrives in Canberra for bilateral talks with Australian leaders on key issues.
Prime Minister Matthew Wale and a Solomon Islands government delegation have arrived in Canberra ahead of a series of bilateral meetings with Australian leaders this week.
The delegation arrived aboard a Royal Australian Air Force aircraft and was received at Defence Establishment Fairbairn on Monday evening.
Discussions between Solomon Islands and Australian officials are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Wale is expected to hold bilateral talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong.
Australian Opposition Leader Angus Taylor is also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Wale during the visit.

The meetings are expected to cover a range of issues, including development cooperation, security, and regional matters.
Members of the Solomon Islands delegation include Foreign Affairs and External Trade Minister Rick Hou; National Planning and Development Coordination Minister Peter Kenilorea Jr; Police, National Security and Correctional Services Minister John Tuhaika Jr; Infrastructure Development Minister Ricky Fuo’o; and Education and Human Resource Development Minister Stephen Kumi.
Finance and Treasury Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo is expected to join the delegation in Canberra on Tuesday.
