RSIPF rejects Matthew Wale’s claims, calling allegations on commissioner appointment misleading and without evidence.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) would like to formally and unequivocally refute the recent allegations published and spurred by the opposition leader Matthew Wale, which suggest that the appointment of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ian Vaevaso poses a threat to accountability and public trust.
These allegations are misleading and fabricated and constitute part of an ongoing propaganda campaign designed to damage the reputation of senior RSIPF officers.
The assertions surrounding DC Vaevaso’s involvement in drug handling are based on unverified, “bogus” information that lacks substantive evidence.
The accusations are viewed by the RSIPF as a calculated effort to cause disunity within the force and tarnish the reputation of its leadership.
The RSIPF has previously expressed concern regarding the publication of sensationalized and unverified content.
We strongly condemn the usage of such tactics by very senior political figures to serve their personal agendas, particularly when they target individuals dedicated to upholding law and order in the Solomon Islands.
We call upon the media to exercise responsible journalism by verifying facts with official sources rather than relying on defamatory claims.
