WELSI hosts a leadership forum to promote women’s representation in executive and decision-making roles
Wednesday 8 July, Honiara – The Women in Executive Leadership Solomon Islands (WELSI) on Thursday 9 July 2026 will bring together women leaders, stakeholders, and partners to discuss critical issues, share experiences, and identify practical pathways for increasing women’s representation in senior executive and higher decision-making roles in Solomon Islands.
This is through a WELSI Women Connect Breakfast and Panel Discussion Networking Event at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara.
Hosted with the theme “Challenges and Opportunities of Advancing Women into Higher Decision-Making and Executive Leadership Roles”, the event will create a platform for meaningful dialogue on the challenges and opportunities related to advancing women into higher executive decision-making roles in Solomon Islands.
This is also an opportunity to strengthen the connections among alumni of WELSI’s flagship training program the Solomon Islands Senior Executive Women in Leadership Program while promoting collaboration among leaders, policymakers, institutions, and development partners.
The event will also be attended by representatives from Government, Private Sector, Development Partners, Civil Society organizations, academic institutions and senior and emerging women leaders.
The event will feature a panel discussion moderated by representatives from government, private sector, development partners, and educational institutions focusing on, the progress and gaps in women’s representation in executive leadership, barriers to advancement into higher decision-making roles, leadership development and executive capacity building, mentorship, sponsorship, and institutional support and opportunities for strengthening women’s pathways into senior leadership.
While the networking session component provides an opportunity for participants to engage, reconnect, and strengthen professional relationships that support women’s advancement into executive leadership.
WELSI President, Ms. Pamela Naesol Alamu says the event is part of WELSI’s ongoing commitment to advancing women into senior executive leadership and higher decision-making roles in Solomon Islands.

The Women Connect Breakfast and Panel Discussion Networking Event will help WELSI advance its vision and mission by promoting dialogue on the status of women in senior executive and decision-making roles in Solomon Islands.
The discussions also aim to identify key barriers that continue to limit women’s progression into executive leadership positions while highlighting opportunities, strategies, and good practices that support women’s advancement into senior leadership and decision-making roles.
With the event, WELSI also hopes to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders committed to promoting women’s leadership in executive and governance spaces.
