
Gabriel Suri has been sworn in as Attorney General of Solomon Islands at a ceremony at Government House.
Gabriel Suri was officially sworn in as Attorney General of the Solomon Islands during a ceremony held at Government House on Monday morning.
The oath of office was administered before the Governor-General, Sir David Tiva Kapu. Prime Minister Matthew Wale and members of Mr. Suri’s family attended the ceremony.
Mr. Suri assumes the role of Attorney General, the government’s chief legal adviser. The office provides legal advice to the Crown, Cabinet, and government ministries, and is responsible for matters relating to the interpretation and application of the Constitution and other laws.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC), the appointment comes as the government begins implementing its policy agenda, including proposed reforms in areas such as mining, forestry, anti-corruption measures, and legislative review.
In a statement, the OPMC said the Office of the Attorney General plays a key role in maintaining legal and constitutional processes within government.
The OPMC also acknowledged Mr. Suri’s appointment and wished him success in his new role.
