The Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement (CAUSE) II Project has released its construction site list for 2026 and beyond.

All projects will adhere to the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Standards as well as national laws.
To ensure a participatory approach, the CAUSE II project team plans to engage with local communities and neighbourhoods near these sites, allowing residents to voice concerns, share suggestions, and participate in discussions about the upcoming works. These consultations aim to better understand the local environment and identify potential impacts, including effects on fences, gardens, private properties, and community access.
Particular consideration will be given to vulnerable groups such as women, youth, the elderly, and persons with disabilities who may be affected or feel at risk during construction activities.
Community engagement will occur through site visits and two scheduled open awareness sessions, where residents can learn more and discuss the planned works. Information about local employment opportunities related to the projects will also be provided.
Community Awareness Sessions:
- Wednesday, 19th November 2025, 4:00–7:00 PM – West Side, Rove Bulk Shop Area
- Thursday, 20th November 2025, 4:00–7:00 PM – East Side, HCC Area
Refreshments will be available at both sessions.
The CAUSE II Project has a Grievance Mechanism (GM) to ensure all public concerns and complaints are recorded and addressed. Those with issues regarding the project, its works, or staff—or who cannot attend the sessions but wish to raise concerns—are encouraged to contact the CAUSE II GM Hotline at 7294364.
The Projects Management Unit (PMU) has successfully hosted a series of Business Opportunity and Awareness Meetings with local contractors, focusing on procurement and preparations for upcoming tenders under this component.
Meanwhile, Kramer Asia Pacific, the design consultant for Component 1, will soon release the detailed designs for the civil works.
CAUSE II has also pre-identified infrastructure needs in provincial centres including Guadalcanal, Auki, Gizo, Munda, and Noro.
The project’s four other components are Safe and Inclusive Communities, Enhanced Urban Productivity, Urban Management and Land Administration, and Project Management.
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and Honiara City Council (HCC) continue to provide oversight for this World Bank and Australian government-funded project, reinforcing their commitment to generating employment, improving urban infrastructure, and enhancing climate resilience for the country’s rapidly growing urban centres.
