Solomon Islands hosts APHoMSA forum this week in Honiara, advancing regional maritime safety cooperation
The Solomon Islands hosts the 25th Session of the Asia-Pacific Heads of Maritime Safety Agencies Forum in Honiara. The forum is held at the National Aquatic Centre and brings together Heads of Maritime Safety Agencies, senior officials, and partner organisations from across the Asia-Pacific region.
The forum is organised by the Solomon Islands Maritime Authority in collaboration with the APHoMSA Secretariat. It serves as a platform for dialogue, technical cooperation, and the exchange of knowledge on maritime safety, security, and governance.
Participation includes representatives from multiple countries and regional organisations, reflecting the importance of coordinated maritime oversight in the Asia-Pacific. Discussions focus on strengthening maritime safety systems, enhancing regional collaboration, and addressing shared challenges in ocean governance.
As an archipelagic nation, the Solomon Islands relies on maritime transport for connectivity, economic activity, and access to essential services. Hosting the forum reflects its engagement in regional maritime initiatives and its role in supporting cooperative approaches to maritime development.
The APHoMSA Forum continues to provide an avenue for member states and partners to advance practical outcomes and strengthen partnerships across the region.
