PRC delivers 22 water tanks to West Makira schools and communities to improve access to clean drinking water.
The People’s Republic of China (PRC) has delivered 22 water tanks to West Makira Constituency to support access to clean drinking water for schools and communities.
The tanks were formally handed over during a brief event at Dual King Hardware, with PRC Embassy representative Mr Gu Wenlong saying China was pleased to assist communities in West Makira.
“We believe in people-centred projects that will help improve the lives of the people,” Mr Wenlong said.
He said the PRC was happy to continue supporting the people of Solomon Islands through practical community-based assistance.
Member of Parliament for West Makira, Hon. Derick Manuari, received the water tanks on behalf of the constituency.
He said the tanks would be distributed to schools and communities where they are most needed.
Hon. Manuari said access to clean drinking water was essential to the livelihoods and wellbeing of people, particularly students in rural communities.
“These tanks are very welcome for our students and communities,” he said.
The West Makira MP thanked the PRC for its continued support, describing China as a friend of the people of Solomon Islands.
“China is an important friend to the people of Solomon Islands,” he said.
