CARE, SIUP and SIPRA Unite Behind Wale’s Candidacy to Address Solomon Islands’ Challenges
The Coalition comprising of CARE, SIUP, and SIPRA has officially put forward Matthew Cooper Wale as their candidate for Prime Minister. This decision aims to dispel rumors of internal discord within the coalition.
Matthew Wale’s nomination was supported by Peter Kenilorea Jr and Cathy Nori from SIUP, Gordon Darcy Lilo from SIPRA and David Gina from CARE.
Former Prime Minister Rick Hou commented on the selection, asserting that it was not driven by a desire for power but rather by the belief that Wale is best suited to address the challenges facing the Solomon Islands.
The nation currently struggles with economic challenges, healthcare deficiencies and high unemployment rates. Stephen Kumi, the recently elected MP for Temotu Nende, emphasized the urgent need for change, stating that the country requires a departure from the status quo.
Matthew Wale expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in him by his colleagues and appealed for broader support, particularly from newly elected independents who ran on platforms advocating for change.
Wale highlighted the electorate’s clear desire for change from the current government, emphasizing the pressing issues at stake, such as healthcare, education, employment, and the cost of living.
As the Prime Ministerial election approaches, the Coalition reaffirms its commitment to representing the will of the voters and calls on all Representatives to align with the mandate for change demanded by the electorate.
