Solomon Airlines Appoints Sean Te’o as New CEO with Chairman Wickham Expressing Confidence in Te’o’s Leadership Amidst Challenges
Solomon Airlines Chairman, Mr. Frank Wickham, has announced the appointment of Mr. Sean Te’o as the new Chief Executive Officer of Solomon Airlines. Mr. Te’o assume his role yesterday (14 March 2024) and will make his first public appearance next week at the 2024 Regional Airlines Association Convention in Queensland, Australia.
Mr. Napoleon Padabela, Acting CEO of Solomon Airlines, welcomed Mr. Te’o and described the transition as smooth, emphasizing Mr. Te’o’s experience within the company since October 2022. Mr. Padabela outlined Mr. Te’o’s contributions to major projects such as the renewal of the Air Operator Certificate, completion of the IOSA audit, and the induction of the second international aircraft, Airbus A320 H4-SAL.
Acknowledging the challenges ahead for the national carrier, Mr. Wickham expressed confidence in Mr. Te’o’s ability to lead the management team and staff in advancing the company’s plans and strategies. Mr. Wickham highlighted Mr. Te’o’s considerable aviation expertise and extensive career in the industry spanning Asia, the Pacific, Europe, and the USA.
Wickham expressed gratitude to Mr. Padabela for his service as Acting CEO and recognized his dedication to Solomon Airlines as its longest-serving employee. Padabela will resume his former position as Manager of Ground Operations.
Te’o’s career includes leadership roles in airline operations, regulatory, and commercial environments. He has held positions such as Managing Director and Board Member of Asia Atlantic Airlines, Thailand/Japan, and Chief Operating Officer for Business Air, Thailand. Additionally, Mr. Te’o has experience in the PNG aviation sector, served as Director of Civil Aviation Authority for the Kingdom of Tonga, and held the role of Deputy Manager of Flight Operations for Real Tonga. He is also a Lead Aviation Auditor and holds qualifications as an airline pilot for various aircraft types.
Beyond aviation, Te’o, along with his wife and family, is involved in operating small and medium-sized family enterprises, as well as participating in community and church programs.
