Renowned Solomon Islands musicians, including Soul Jay and Jah Boy, journey to Vanuatu for Galaxy FC’s 10th anniversary celebration
Several renowned music artists from the Solomon Islands, including Soul Jay, Jaro Local, Blanc-O, Jah Boy and Ismuki, are in Vanuatu to headline Galaxy FC’s 10th-anniversary celebration, as reported by the Vanuatu Daily Post.
The event, themed “Unity through Music and Sports,” will take place this Saturday at Korman Stadium in Port Vila. It aims to promote unity through the power of music and sports while serving as a fundraising initiative.
The artists arrived via Solomon Airlines yesterday (Monday) and will join local performers such as Naio Band, Vanessa Quai, Falcon, Rezilient Band, Dausake and Sele Local String Band for the special occasion.
Proceeds from the 7-hour extravaganza will contribute towards constructing a playhouse for sick children at the Children’s Ward of Vila Central Hospital (VCH), equipped with toys to brighten their days.
Galaxy FC’s Head Coach, Richard Anisua, highlighted the importance of supporting the nation’s children, describing them as pivotal to the country’s future.
“The Children’s Ward is integral to our national hospital, and we recognize the impact of supporting this cause,” he stated.
During its decade-long journey, Galaxy FC has achieved national and regional acclaim, securing titles in the VFF Champions League, Premier League and OFC tournaments. The club boasts prominent Vanuatu players like Kency Tangis and Bong Kalo, the only local player to score in a World Cup.
Established in 2014 under the ownership of Andrew Leong, Galaxy FC swiftly ascended in prominence. Their promotion to the Port Vila Premier League in 2018 paved the way for their inaugural appearance in the Oceania Champions League.
Galaxy FC President, Jackson George, emphasised the dual focus of the anniversary festivities. “As we celebrate a decade of achievements, it’s crucial to remember that our children are the future leaders of our nation,” he affirmed.
The event promises to be a vibrant celebration, with Jah Boy expressing enthusiasm for an electrifying performance amidst an enthusiastic audience.
Soul Jay also expressed delight in the pleasant weather and his eagerness to entertain both Galaxy FC supporters and the people of Port Vila.
In addition to musical performances, the event will feature quizzes and games tailored for children, ensuring it is a family-friendly celebration. Festivities will kick off at noon, with music starting at 2pm and concluding around 9:30pm.
