Indonesian security supervisor dies after robbery at Honiara Airport site; investigation underway by RSIPF.

With deep regret, it has been confirmed that Mr. Ngabdullah, an Indonesian national and Security Supervisor with China Railway Construction Engineering Group Company Limited (CRCEG), passed away on 8 July 2025 at the National Referral Hospital.
Mr. Ngabdullah sustained injuries during an incident reported as a violent robbery at the company’s premises at Honiara International Airport on 2 July 2025, where he reportedly intervened in an attempt to stop the attack.
CRCEG described Mr. Ngabdullah as a committed and professional member of the security team, noting his role in maintaining workplace safety. Colleagues have acknowledged his service and expressed condolences to his family.
Authorities are working closely with CRCEG and the Indonesian Embassy to ensure the respectful repatriation of Mr. Ngabdullah’s remains to his family in Indonesia.
A formal investigation is currently underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is expected to take appropriate action once the investigation concludes.
In a statement, the Solomon Islands Government condemned the act of violence, calling it unacceptable and stating that the case is being treated with the utmost seriousness.
