By Ethan Habru in Adelaide

Croydon Football Club featuring Solomon Islands national soccer player Junior David has moved to fifth place in the National Premier League (NPL) of South Australia (SA). This followed an emphatic 5-3 victory over Campbelltown City on Saturday in a round six match of the SA NPL.

In what would have been a potential matchup between two Solomon Islanders, it failed to happen because of Javin Wae not being in the lineup for Campbelltown City.

Wae did not make an appearance for Campbelltown in at least three of their outings because of an injury and is still recovering.

David on the other hand spotted a strong defensive performance in his right wing back position and was crucial in holding Croydon’s lead until the final whistle.

In the SA State League One, national defender William Komasi played the whole 90 minutes for Adelaide Cobras in their 1-0 win against Cumberland United.

“A massive effort from our Seniors, getting the job done with a hard-earned 1-0 win on home turf. Nick Harpas stepped up and delivered the match-winner in a tightly contested battle — a real show of grit, discipline, and teamwork from the entire squad,” Cobras said in their social media page.

This win pushes Cobras on equal points with Rovu Boyer’s West Adelaide Hellas on the league table sharing seven points each.Boyers started for the Hellas on Saturday against league leaders Sturt Lions where they lost 3-2, in a game he was featured from start to end.

Boyer’s West Adelaide now sits sixth on the table ahead of Komasi’s Cobras on seventh despite both clubs sharing seven points each on the SA State League One ladder.

A goal difference of two means West Adelaide is just an inch ahead of Cobras on the table.

West Adelaide’s defeat now makes it their third from their last five matches in the SA State League One rounds while Komasi’s Cobras win makes it their second in their last five outings.

Ninth on the table is Micah Lea’alafa’s Vipers FC in which he was featured in their starting lineup and played until the final whistle against Fulham United, in another round six match of the SA State League One on Saturday.

Lea’alafa contributed to Viper’s second goal when he collected a pass inside Fulham’s area, bamboozled his way into the box before laying it to his teammate Matheus Rodrigues to score in the 65th minute and make it 2-2.

Unfortunately, this will prove futile as Kanta Muneyuki scored for Fulham in the 79th minute to make it a 3-2 at fulltime.

Fulham’s victory contributed to the Vipers third loss so far in their last five games of the SA State League One rounds.

Meanwhile another Solomon Islands national soccer player Raphael Lea’i was red carded on Sunday in the 63rd minute for his Wollongong Wolves side in a round 10 match of the New South Wales NPL against Sutherland Shark.

Despite his unfortunate dismissal, the Wolves went on to win 4-0 and currently in 12th position on the table featuring 16 clubs.
