Lonely Planet names Solomon Islands among its Top 25 Best in Travel for 2026, highlighting its culture, nature, and unique experiences.
The Solomon Islands has been named among Lonely Planet’s Top 25 Best in Travel for 2026, making it the only South Pacific nation included in the global listing.
The annual Best in Travel guide recognises destinations offering unique and meaningful travel experiences across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
Lonely Planet Destination Editor for Oceania, Jessica Lockhart, visited the Solomon Islands in November last year as part of Tourism Solomons’ International Media Visitation Program. Her itinerary included hiking in Kolombangara, snorkelling at Njari Island, a volcano walk on Savo Island, and cultural and historical site visits in Honiara.
Ms. Lockhart said the Best in Travel list highlights authentic and memorable travel experiences that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
“Visiting the Solomon Islands is a truly transformative experience,” she said. “Its emerging surf scene, rich biodiversity, and cultural depth are surprisingly easy to access with direct flights from Brisbane, making this a country worth visiting in 2026.”
The recognition is expected to draw greater international attention to the Solomon Islands as a travel destination.
Lonely Planet is a global travel guide publisher founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 1973 by Tony and Maureen Wheeler. It is known for producing trusted destination guides and its annual Best in Travel lists, which highlight top places, regions, and travel experiences around the world.
