A delegation from China is in the country to assess three PRC aid projects in Honiara. China International Development Cooperation Agency, CIDCA arrived on Sunday to spend the next couple of weeks to assess:
- The Pacific Games Stadium
- SINU dormitory project and the
- Medical Centre where the tender process is now underway for construction later this year
China Ambassador, His Excellency Li Ming said CIDCA’s most important portfolio is to monitor all PRC aid projects. He said ‘Quality must be of high standard and that security and safety are very important’. Today the Chinese delegation also signed exchange notes with the government of Solomon Islands for the progress in work from the PRC aid projects.
This morning Vice Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency, Mr. Tang Wenghong paid a visit to Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare. During the brief courtesy visit, Solomon Islands and Peoples Republic of China engaged in cordial, indepth and rewarding communication that enhances SI-PRC cooperation. In the brief encounter in the morning, Prime Minister Sogavare and H.E Ambassador Li Ming of China also witnessed the signing of;
i. MOU on the Global Development Initiative.
ii. Exchange of Notes to facilitate the training of 80 Solomon Islands Athletes in PRC for 3 months and for PRC to send its coaches to train our athletes ahead of November’s Pacific Games.
CIDCA is aslo hosting consultative meetings with Permanent Secretaries, senior government officials and other guests.
