Solomon Airlines increases all domestic airfares by 5% to address rising costs and ensure service continuity
Honiara, 2 July 2025 – Effective immediately, Solomon Airlines has implemented a 5% increase to all domestic airfares across the Solomon Islands.
“This adjustment is essential to address rising operational costs and to help ensure the continuation of services to support the nation,” the airline stated.
The airline cited the crisis in the Middle East as a key factor, which has driven up the cost of Jet A1 fuel. “This has increased our operating costs both direct and indirect with many suppliers of other products we use also increasing their costs to us.”
According to Solomon Airlines, several domestic routes are historically unprofitable, and the airline faces a complex challenge in balancing essential service delivery with financial sustainability. “Despite ongoing cost-cutting and increasing efficiency within the airline, this fare increase is necessary to support continued operations.”
The airline confirmed it is conducting a full review of its domestic business model. “We are committed to implementing strategic changes aimed at improving viability and ensuring the airline’s long-term sustainability. These changes will focus on optimizing operations while ensuring reliable and accessible connectivity across the Solomon Islands.”
Customers can contact the airline for inquiries regarding charters, schedules, or reservations by calling 44999 or visiting the Point Cruz or Henderson Sales Offices. Offices are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
“We value your understanding and support as we navigate these challenges and work toward a sustainable future for Solomon Airlines.”
