The North Guadalcanal Constituency (NGC) office, under the leadership of Dr. Paul Bosawai, MP, has reaffirmed its commitment to education development, identifying it as one of the constituency’s top priorities.
Dr. Bosawai made the remarks during the official handover of hardware and building materials to 15 schools in the constituency last Friday.
The recipient schools are Pitukoli RTC, Pitukoli Community High School, Sali Kindy and Primary School, Binu Primary School, Nguvia Primary School, Suagi Catholic Primary School, Suagi Anglican Primary School, Nguvia Eden Private School, Nguvia Community High School, Tenavatu Community High School, Navola Kindy ECE School, Vutu Kindy School, Ghaobata Community High School, Tumurora Community High School, and Sir Jacob Memorial School.

The support, valued at $190,000, forms part of the $3.2 million allocation under the 2025 Constituency Development Funds (CDF) budget for NGC through the Preferred Supplier Arrangement (PSA) component.
“Education remains one of the top priorities for our constituency,” Dr. Bosawai said. This assistance demonstrates NGC’s ongoing commitment to education development and improving learning environments for both students and staff.
“This support underscores our confidence that education is the foundation for a brighter future. A path to success is through education. Education provides us with opportunities to prosper and excel. So, we are investing in the future,” Dr. Bosawai highlighted.
“We are committed to working alongside schools to ensure students have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.”

Dr. Bosawai also emphasized the transformative role of education in addressing poverty.
“Education is the key to unlocking opportunities and lifting communities out of poverty. It is the foundation upon which individuals can build better lives, secure sustainable employment, and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he stressed.
Highlighting the importance of accessible and quality education for children in the constituency, Dr. Bosawai said the NGC office will continue to assist students with school fees and provide additional educational support to ensure inclusive access to education.
He also acknowledged the government, through the Ministry of Education, for its continued support to constituencies through education grants, which are supplemented by CDF assistance to support students’ learning needs.

He noted that empowering young people through education is essential for long-term development and confirmed that 163 students have received support from the NGC office since 2024.
NGC’s continued efforts reflect its commitment to community development and investment in future generations.
Meanwhile, Mark Pasa, Principal of Pitukoli Community High School, and Hilda Poru, ECE Supervisor at Navola Primary School, speaking on behalf of the recipient schools, expressed appreciation to the NGC office for the assistance.

of the recipient schools, expressed profound gratitude to the NGC office for
the generous assistance.
They said the support would contribute to school development programs, particularly the construction of classrooms, staff houses, and other essential infrastructure to improve learning environments.
“When more classrooms are built, more students will access education, thereby contributing to the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
They also assured the constituency office of their continued cooperation in advancing education development in NGC to ensure children have access to quality education.
Prior to the handover, the constituency office conducted two weeks of assessments and scoping work at the schools to ensure the assistance addressed their specific needs.

Constituency Project Officer (CPO) Stobart Nunuvia thanked the schools for their cooperation during the assessment process and said the exercise was important in identifying priority needs within the available budget.
“From the assessments, we found that schools mainly requested construction materials for classrooms and staff houses,” CPO Stobart explained.
Following the handover, recipient schools signed a ‘Project Release Form’ facilitated by NGC, in accordance with the CDF Act 2023.
Over the past two years, the NGC office has supported churches, schools, individuals, and other community development initiatives through CDF assistance, contributing to socio-economic development in the constituency.
