Solomon Power appoints new CEO effective 1st August 2023.
The Board Chairman and Directors of the Solomon Islands Electricity Authority, trading as Solomon Power, have announced the appointment of Mr. Martin Sam as the new Chief Executive Officer. Effective 1st August 2023, Mr. Sam will assume the position of CEO, succeeding the late Donald Kiriau.
Prior to his appointment as CEO, Mr. Martin Sam served as the Chief Engineer of Solomon Power. Additionally, he temporarily held the role of Acting CEO of the Electricity Authority following the unfortunate passing of Mr. Kiriau. With his extensive experience in the energy sector, Mr. Sam is well-equipped to lead Solomon Power through its current phase of growth and development.
The company is currently focused on restoring full electricity services to its customers in Honiara and the surrounding areas. Solomon Power faced a temporary setback when four of its generators encountered technical difficulties simultaneously.
The Solomon Power Board has expressed its confidence in Mr. Sam’s abilities and looks forward to working closely with him to drive the company towards greater success. As the newly appointed CEO, Mr. Martin Sam will play a pivotal role in the ongoing efforts to provide reliable and sustainable power solutions for the people of Solomon Islands.
