105 Students from Florence Young ECE Centre Explore the World of Aviation at Honiara International Airport.
One hundred five students from the Florence Young Early Childhood Education (ECE) Centre, accompanied by 10 teachers, participated in an educational excursion hosted by Solomon Airlines. The event aimed to provide students with insight into the aviation industry.
The students explored both the international and domestic terminals at Honiara International Airport. They observed key processes, including check-in, baggage handling, boarding, and security, gaining an understanding of how each step contributes to efficient airline operations. The experience highlighted the importance of various roles in ensuring passenger safety and smooth travel.
A significant part of the day included a tour aboard one of Solomon Airlines’ Airbus aircraft, where students explored the cabin and cockpit and experienced the inflight environment. Flight attendants demonstrated safety procedures, illustrating the measures taken to ensure passenger well-being.
Beverly Kinifaasia, Supervisor at Florence Young ECE Centre, expressed gratitude to Solomon Airlines for the opportunity. She noted, “Watching our students learn about aviation was heartwarming. This experience has opened their eyes to possibilities in the aviation industry. Many students now aspire to become pilots, cabin crew, or engineers.”
During the tour, students interacted with professionals from Solomon Airlines, including pilots, engineers, cabin crew, and ground staff. These professionals shared insights into their roles, showcasing the diverse career paths available within the aviation sector. Many students left feeling motivated to consider careers in aviation.
