Commissioner Mostyn Mangau Emphasizes Importance of Safety and Respect During and After Joint Elections
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has lauded the public for their peaceful conduct during the polling day held on April 17, 2024.
RSIPF Commissioner, Mr. Mostyn Mangau, expressed appreciation for the smooth proceedings, stating that it reflected the expectation of the RSIPF for the joint elections.
Commissioner Mangau said it is good to see people move freely to cast their votes for their preferred leader to represent them in Honiara City Council, Provincial Government and the National Parliament.
He emphasized the crucial role of the RSIPF in ensuring the safety of the areas surrounding polling stations, enabling voters to cast their ballots without fear or intimidation.
Mangau urged supporters to respect the counting process and respect whatever the results may be. “Whether it be in your favor or not, I emphasize that we keep the peace and respect our fellow wantoks”. He said the Police will provide heavy presence in all counting venues across the country.
“So I appeal to you, my good law abiding citizens to do the right thing and respect the process and accept the outcomes of the results”, Mangau said.
