Solomon Islands revives National Trade Fair 2025 to promote MSMEs, innovation, and economic transformation.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) has announced the return of the 2025 Annual National Trade Fair (2025ANTF), under the theme: “Trade for Transformation – Rebuilding Our Happy Isles.” The event is scheduled for the first week of July 2025 and will coincide with Solomon Islands’ 47th Independence Anniversary celebrations on 7th July 2025.
This marks the first national trade fair since 2014, signaling the revival of a major platform for promoting innovation, showcasing local products, and fostering connections across various sectors including commerce, culture, and creativity.
A key milestone in the fair’s preparation was reached with the signing of a Service Agreement between the 2025 ANTF Steering Committee and the Solomon Islands National University (SINU), designating the FOPA Village as the official venue for the event.
Dr. William Parairato, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Corporate) of SINU, stated:
“SINU is honoured to partner with MCILI and the 2025ANTF Steering Committee to support the successful delivery of the 2025 Annual National Trade Fair. As the national university, we see this as an opportunity to connect learning, innovation, and enterprise with the real economy. By providing the FOPA venue as the operational hub, we are proud to contribute to a national initiative aligned with our mission to support economic transformation, skills development, and inclusive growth.”
The agreement was signed on 22 May 2025 by Mr. Hunter Masuguria, Deputy Secretary for Administration and Planning of MCILI, on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government, and Dr. William Parairato, on behalf of SINU.
Vice Chairman of the 2025ANTF, Simon Chottu, welcomed the partnership:
“The return of the National Trade Fair is a significant step toward revitalizing and strengthening our domestic economy. We thank the GNUT Government for prioritizing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and for recognizing the importance of reviving this vital national event. We also extend our appreciation to SINU for its partnership and support. We look forward to a successful collaboration and a vibrant, impactful Trade Fair this year.”
The 2025 Trade Fair aligns with GNUT’s Policy Statement 2.1.6 through MCILI, which supports the development of MSMEs to foster a competitive and resilient private sector.
