West Honiara Ballot Count to Take Place at St. Barnabas Cathedral while East and Central Honiara Counting Venue Unaffected
Counting for the West Honiara constituency is set to take place at the St. Barnabas Cathedral area. Following the conclusion of polling day on Wednesday, Returning Officers encountered delays in retrieving all of the ballot boxes.
Consequently, the decision has been made to relocate the counting venue for West Honiara from the Multipurpose Hall to St. Barnabas Cathedral. All ballot boxes for the Honiara constituencies collected after polling day were stored at the Multi-purpose Hall.
Counting will commence once all the ballot boxes have been retrieved and verified by the Returning Officers and officials and agents.
The retrieval process of the ballot boxes was particularly slow in Honiara, which boasts the highest number of registered voters. Meanwhile, counting for the East and Central Honiara constituencies will proceed at the Multi-purpose Hall in Central Honiara
