Women’s and Men’s Rugby Teams, Along with Men’s Basketball Team, Exit Pacific Games Medal Race
Solomon Islands concludes its participation in the Rugby 9s competition with both the men’s and women’s teams facing challenges, failing to secure a victory in any of their four matches. The men’s team competed against Fiji and Samoa, ending with scores of 28-6 and 22-4, respectively. Additional setbacks occurred with losses to Cook Islands (8-16) and a closely contested match against Tonga, concluding with a score of 14-12. The women’s team experienced defeats against Samoa (20-8) and Tonga (16-6), as well as losses to Vanuatu (8-4) and Fiji (18-0).
In basketball, the Solomon Islands Men’s Basketball Team bows out of medal contention in the Sol2023 Pacific Games after a 87-53 loss to Guam. Consequently, they are scheduled to compete against Tonga in the 7/8 position classification match on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Men’s Indoor Volleyball team secures a victory against Tonga, winning by 3 sets to 5 in its third match of the Pacific Games 2023 Indoor Volleyball competition at Friendship Hall. Their upcoming challenge awaits them against New Caledonia.
