The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Gizo has issued a warning to the public, urging them not to organize or participate in any float parades on roads or at sea following the announcement of election results.
This reminder was made immediately after the revelation of the first national result in the provincial capital town of Gizo.
“We would like to inform the public that there will be no float parades,” said one of the officers following the announcement of John Dean Kuku as the elected Member of Parliament for North New Georgia.
“We do not encourage anyone to celebrate the victory of any winning candidate in this year’s joint elections in the province. We kindly request the public to behave respectfully and accept whatever result or outcome is determined.”
Hundreds of voters have gathered in front of the Western Provincial Government Office balcony, eagerly awaiting the announcement of the final results.
