Levers Solomon’s Limited Locks Gate to Hell’s Point Due to Government’s Failure to Comply with High Court Orders
Levers Solomon’s Limited (LSL) has taken the unprecedented step of locking the gate to Hell’s Point, an area used by the Explosive Ordnance Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to destroy WW2 bombs.
This action by Levers Solomon’s Limited is in direct response to a High Court Order, which requires the government to make a payment to the company by October 30, 2023. Should the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) fail to meet this deadline, Levers Solomon’s Ltd retains the authority to remove individuals occupying the disputed land.
This issue between LSL and the government has been a long-standing concern, with the High Court having issued similar orders in the past.
Today, LSL, with the assistance of a private security firm, enforced the High Court Order by preventing EOD officials from accessing the area.
