Tovosia stresses collaboration as World Vision presents ongoing projects in Solomon Islands.
Acting Prime Minister Bradley Tovosia has called for enhanced partnership and alignment between the National Government and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), highlighting the importance of effective collaboration in delivering community development initiatives.
During a meeting with senior members of World Vision, led by World Vision New Zealand CEO Grant Bayldon, the Acting Prime Minister acknowledged the contributions of World Vision Solomon Islands (WVSI). The organization is actively involved in agriculture, economic empowerment, health, and education programs, many of which are delivered in collaboration with government ministries.
However, Tovosia emphasized that a more concerted effort between NGOs like WVSI and the government would lead to better resource use and sustainable outcomes for communities. He stressed the importance of neutrality and transparency in the operations of NGOs.
World Vision New Zealand CEO Grant Bayldon and Associate Director TJ Grant assured the Acting Prime Minister of their continued commitment to working with government agencies and maintaining transparency. They also emphasized World Vision’s focus on children, Christian values, and community-based initiatives.
World Vision Solomon Islands has been invited to present its projects to the Policy Implementation, Evaluation, and Monitoring Unit (PIMEU) in the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. This presentation aims to enhance government understanding of WVSI’s initiatives and explore opportunities for further collaboration.
