Australia hands over 10 church noticeboards in Honiara to improve community communication and information sharing.
Australia has supported the installation and handover of 10 new noticeboards to major churches in Honiara, strengthening communication and information sharing within communities.
The noticeboards provide a central point for sharing important information, including church activities, community announcements, and development programs.
Australia recognises the important role churches play as trusted hubs for information and community engagement across Solomon Islands, particularly in urban communities such as Honiara. The handover ceremony was attended by church representatives, community leaders, and the Australian High Commission.
Australian Counsellor, Dr Tristan Armstrong, said the initiative will help ensure communities have better access to timely and relevant information.
‘Churches are at the heart of communities across Solomon Islands and play a vital role in bringing people together. By supporting simple but practical initiatives like noticeboards, Australia is helping strengthen communication and community connections.’
Church leaders welcomed the initiative and agreed that the noticeboards will significantly improve how information is shared within their communities.
This initiative reflects Australia’s ongoing partnership with Solomon Islands to support inclusive, community-led development and strengthen local communication networks.
