Currently in the Solomon Islands, Najmun has visited 177 countries on a mission to promote peace, humanity and global unity.
Najmun Nahar, a Bangladeshi traveler, is on the verge of becoming the first Muslim woman to visit every country in the world. Currently in the Solomon Islands, she has already explored 177 nations and is widely known for carrying the Bangladesh flag during her travels. Over the past 24 years, Najmun has journeyed across the globe, often facing difficult and dangerous conditions, with a mission to promote peace and humanity.
Najmun has been honored with prestigious awards such as the ‘Peace Torch Award’ and the ‘Daughter of the Earth’ award—recognitions previously bestowed upon global icons like Mother Teresa. Her goal is to visit all 195 countries, which include the 193 UN member states and two observer states (the Holy See and Palestine). With only about 20 countries left, her remarkable journey has garnered significant recognition both in Bangladesh and internationally.
Starting her solo travels two decades ago, Najmun has traversed the world, primarily by road. Throughout her adventurous journey, she has faced countless adversities, including life-threatening situations. Undeterred, she continues her mission, unfurling the red and green flag of Bangladesh in every country she visits. Along the way, she has led campaigns for the victims of war, climate change, disadvantaged children and families, people with disabilities, and those facing life-changing circumstances. She has also been a voice for spreading the message of peace and humanity across different cultures and nations.
Najmun holds a post-graduate degree in Asian Studies from Lund University, Sweden, and a graduate degree in Political Science from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. She has also studied Human Rights in Asia at Seoul National University, South Korea. In her professional career, Najmun worked as a Research Coordinator at Swedwatch, Sweden, and has been involved in various research projects.
Born in Lakshmipur, Bangladesh, Najmun’s passion for travel was deeply inspired by her family. Her father, a businessman, encouraged her travels, while her grandfather, an Islamic scholar and traveler in the late 1920s and 1930s, also fueled her adventurous spirit.
As she continues her world tour in the Solomon Islands, Najmun remains committed to championing the causes of peace, humanity, and global connection. With just a few countries remaining, her journey is a testament to the power of resilience, advocacy, and international unity.
