PM Jeremiah Manele acknowledges severe weather impacts nationwide, stressing preparedness, coordination, and resilience.
Honiara, Solomon Islands, Wednesday 4 January 2026 – Prime Minister . Jeremiah Manele, MP, has acknowledged the impact of recent severe weather events affecting communities across Solomon Islands.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Prime Minister said Solomon Islanders have experienced severe weather impacts including heavy rainfall, flooding, infrastructure damage, power disruptions, and the loss of lives.
“These events have affected families and communities across the country and have again highlighted the importance of preparedness, coordination, and resilience, particularly in relation to infrastructure and essential services”, Prime Minister Manele said.
He acknowledged that the National Disaster Management Office activated national disaster arrangements in line with alerts and warnings issued by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service.
