Tourism Solomons becomes Silver Sponsor of Miss Pacific Islands Pageant 2025, supporting culture, tourism, and key events.
Tourism Solomons has officially signed on as the Silver Sponsor for the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant 2025, further cementing its commitment to promoting culture and tourism in the Solomon Islands.
As part of their sponsorship, Tourism Solomons will support three key elements of the prestigious event: the Chupu Ceremony, the People’s Choice Awards, and the Miss Tourism Award.
The partnership was formalized during a signing ceremony at the Tourism Solomons office in Honiara. Present at the event were Miss Pacific Islands Pageant Director Ms. Joyce Konofilia and Acting CEO of Tourism Solomons Mr. Dagnal Dereveke.
“We are thrilled to have Tourism Solomons as a key partner for this year’s pageant,” said Ms. Konofilia. “Their sponsorship not only reflects their dedication to promoting our culture and traditions but also highlights the importance of showcasing the Solomon Islands as a vibrant and diverse destination. Tourism Solomons will have a great opportunity to promote our tourism brand, ‘Solomon Is.,’ through the People’s Choice Award, being the official sponsor of that category. I am proud of this partnership as it will take our tourism brand to a new level.”
The Chupu Ceremony, a cornerstone of the pageant, will take place on February 3rd at the Dining Hall in East Honiara. This traditional gesture of respect honors landowners for the use of their land and offers a warm welcome to the queens and their delegations arriving from across the Pacific.
“The Chupu Ceremony not only celebrates our customs but also provides contestants and their delegations an opportunity to experience the unique beauty of Solomon Islands traditions,” added Ms. Konofilia.
The event is open to the public, with the program starting at 2:30 PM. Everyone is encouraged to attend and join in the cultural festivities.
The Miss Pacific Islands Pageant 2025 will be hosted in Honiara from February 1st to February 8th under the theme “Leadership in Diversity and Adversity.” The pageant will spotlight the Pacific’s rich heritage, talent, and resilience, with Tourism Solomons playing a vital role in showcasing the Solomon Islands as a leading cultural and tourism destination.
