Organisers urge colourful entries as the Solomon Islands Independence float parade returns on 7 July with prizes
Honiara, 30 June 2026 – The annual independence anniversary float parade on 7 July is anticipated to be one of the key highlights of this year’s celebration.
Introduced 3 years ago, the float parade through the Honiara main street from both ends of the city will feature Government Ministries, Corporate Organisations, Schools and Civil Society Organisations.
The float parade will congregate at the National Stadium before the official parade, speeches and cultural performances.
Participating Organisations are encouraged to use the event to highlight their services and products with festive colours and flair.
The Independence Organising Committee is encouraging participants to prepare well for prizes to be awarded to the best floats.
A detailed programme of the float parade will be distributed through various media platforms later this week.
Last year’s winning float was awarded to the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS).
This year’s anniversary will be hosted under the Theme “Our Nation, Our Responsibility and Accountability – Building a Great Solomon Islands”
