Household income and expenditure survey resumes across provinces and Honiara, gathering vital data for national development.
The National Statistics Office (NSO) has resumed the 2024-2025 Household Income and Expenditure Survey after the holiday break. The survey restarted on Monday, January 6, 2024, with enumeration taking place in selected areas across all provinces and Honiara.
Running through 48 field rounds, the survey is currently in rounds 10 to 22 and is expected to continue until mid-October 2025. The NSO is urging residents to cooperate with survey teams by providing accurate household data.
Enumerators are easily identifiable by their blue and grey survey-branded T-shirts and official identification cards. Public participation is critical to the success of the survey, which is conducted under the authority of the Statistics Act (amendments 2007). Non-cooperation or the provision of false information can result in legal penalties.
The survey provides important data that informs national policy and development programs, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to improve citizens’ livelihoods.
