Australia funds 51 new community projects across Solomon Islands to improve water, schools, lighting and halls
Australia will partner with communities across Solomon Islands on 51 new small-scale infrastructure projects in the first round of the Solomon Islands – Australia Community Partnerships for 2026.
The 51 new lifechanging projects are located throughout the country, and will support the installation of solar powered streetlights, the construction of new classrooms and community halls, and the provision of community water tanks.
The projects also represent more than SBD 11 million in direct funding that will go to Solomon Islands businesses to support development in communities.
Over the lifetime of this program, Australia has funded more than 340 projects in every province and every constituency of Solomon Islands.
Australian High Commissioner Jeff Roach said the projects reflected the strong and growing partnership between Australia and Solomon Islands.
“These projects will deliver practical benefits to communities, while also supporting local businesses and jobs,” High Commissioner Roach said.
“Australia is pleased to work in partnership with the people of Solomon Islands and their leaders to deliver projects in so many constituencies and communities.”
The next Community Partnerships round will open for applications in the second half of 2026.
