Solomon Islands Opposition rejects rumours of MPs defecting to Government, reaffirming unity, discipline and commitment.
The Official Parliamentary Opposition categorically dismisses as baseless and politically motivated the rumours circulating that a number of its Members of Parliament have been won over to support the GREAT Coalition Government.
These rumours are nothing more than political speculation designed to create confusion, undermine public confidence, and give the impression that the Official Opposition is fractured. We reject that narrative outright.
The Official Opposition remains mature, intact, united and firmly knitted as a parliamentary group. Our Members understand the responsibility entrusted to them by their constituents and people of Solomon Islands, and they will not be swayed, enticed or pressured simply for the sake of making up numbers.
Politics is not merely a numbers game. It is about principles, accountability, conviction and the national interest.
Our Members entered Parliament with a mandate from their constituents, and they remain focused on the issues that matter most to ordinary Solomon Islanders. The Opposition is united in its commitment to scrutinising government, providing responsible political leadership and advocating for the development priorities that our people urgently need.
We will not be distracted by rumours, political manoeuvring or attempts to manufacture instability within our ranks. The Opposition knows where it stands, what it stands for, and whom it stands for- the people of Solomon Islands.
At this important time of political and leadership challenge, we urge Solomon Islanders to remain calm, discerning and prayerful. We encourage our people not to be misled by unverified claims circulating through political conversations and social media.
We brush aside the rumour and urge Solomon Islanders to continue praying for our elected leaders in this time of leadership challenge.
The Official Opposition will continue to conduct itself with maturity, discipline and respect for the democratic institutions of our country. Our focus remains firmly on the national interest and on ensuring that the voices, aspirations and development needs of Solomon Islanders remain at the centre of our parliamentary work.
The Opposition remains intact. The Opposition remains united. The Opposition remains focused.
