PM Matthew Wale concludes U.S. visit with talks on Bina Harbour, investment, trade and strategic partnerships
PRIME Minister Hon. Matthew Wale has successfully concluded his official visit to Washington D.C., where he held a series of high-level meetings with key United States institutions and private sector leaders.
During the visit, the Prime Minister and his delegation engaged with the U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The meetings focused on strengthening partnerships and unlocking new development opportunities for Solomon Islands.
Discussions with the DFC and MCC centered on strategic investment opportunities, with particular emphasis on projects that can deliver long-term economic benefits for the country.
The Bina Harbour Project featured prominently in these talks, alongside broader opportunities in the energy and tourism sectors.
Prime Minister Wale also participated in a private sector roundtable hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The session brought together representatives from leading global companies, including Google, Caterpillar, Walmart, Boeing, United Airlines, and Organon.
At the roundtable, the Prime Minister outlined both the challenges and opportunities within Solomon Islands, highlighting areas for potential collaboration and investment. The discussions were met with strong interest from participating companies, signaling promising prospects for future partnerships.
Prime Minister Wale described the engagements as productive and forward-looking, noting that they represent shared opportunities that could significantly contribute to Solomon Islands’ development goals.
Prime Minister Wale also held discussions with the department of war under secretary Colby Eldridge at the Pentagon.
The visit highlighted the Government’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and attracting investment to drive sustainable economic growth.
The Prime Minister will depart to Tokyo, Japan tomorrow noon.
