The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service has issued a Heavy Rain Warning for most provinces as a weather trough continues to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms across the country.
Hazards and Risks
The Meteorological Service warned that localized heavy rain could lead to:
- Landslides: Communities near hill slopes should remain vigilant.
- Flash Flooding: Those living close to rivers, streams, and low-lying areas face a heightened risk.
- Poor Visibility: Sea travelers are advised to exercise caution as reduced visibility may pose significant dangers.
Public Advisory
Residents are strongly encouraged to take necessary safety measures to protect lives and property. Authorities also urge the public to share this information widely, especially with people with disabilities.
