Maintenance works are underway on sealed roads in West Honiara, Lot 2, funded through the National Transport Fund
Specific maintenance work on sealed roads in West Honiara, Lot 2, is currently underway. The project covers the following routes: Mud Alley, Tsilm Street, Matavale Crescent, Tavio Ridge, Rifle Range, and the White River road network.
The local contractor initially focused on Tavio Ridge Road from December last year, preparing key sections and carrying out sealing works in accordance with the quantities specified in the contract.
Following a short break for the festive season, the contractor resumed work this week, with crews mobilised to carry out initial works on the Rifle Range Road. These include drainage improvements and the clearance of overgrown vegetation, with sealing of specific sections to follow.
The contract for this lot experienced delays over the past two years due to revisions in the scope of priorities. However, it received approval from the Central Tender Board in the last quarter of 2025.
Funding for the maintenance works is provided through the National Transport Fund, contributed by the Solomon Islands Government.
The Transport Infrastructure Management Services Division of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) continues to provide overall supervision, quality control, and assurance for the local contracts.
“We sincerely appreciate road users for adhering to traffic controllers on-site, who assist in ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety.”
