Jimmy started as a small-scale farmer in Central Guadalcanal, struggling to find a stable market for his produce. His breakthrough came when Heritage Park Hotel began purchasing his crops, giving him a consistent source of income.
“When I first started supplying local produce, it was three days a week. But as my business grew, I decided to dedicate Fridays to fresh supplies while giving two other days to farmers in my community,” Jimmy shared. “I know it is difficult to give away days like that, but I saw that people in my community also needed an avenue to sell their produce, so I gave them the opportunity.”
Its been more than 10 years since Jimmy started his partnership with the Hotel. With earnings from this partnership, Jimmy expanded his farm and even ventured into palm oil cultivation, creating further economic stability for his family. His success is a testament to how local businesses and the hospitality industry can work together to support rural livelihoods.
Commitment to Employment and Economic Contribution
Heritage Park Hotel’s impact extends beyond agriculture. Currently employing more than 100 Solomon Islanders, the hotel provides stable jobs, professional development, and career growth opportunities in the hospitality sector.

It’s a cycle where everyone reaps what they sow—literally and figuratively! Heritage Park is actually blessed to have had the support of some of the local communities. They have always stood by us even during the days of the riots and the pandemic. We owe our success in part to them,” Bhargava stated.
A Vision of Growth Amidst Uncertainty
The journey of Heritage Park Hotel is one of resilience and determination. Established in 2009, the hotel was born out of an ambitious vision by Papua New Guinea-based business magnate Sir Kostas Constantinou. Amidst the rebuilding efforts following the ethnic conflicts of the early 2000s, he saw an opportunity to invest in the Solomon Islands’ future. His vision led to the development of a world-class hotel in partnership with the Papua New Guinea Superannuation Fund and later the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund.
The hotel’s site holds historical significance, having been the residence of British governors and the first two Governors-General of an independent Solomon Islands, Sir Baddeley Devesi and Sir George Lepping. While transforming the property into a modern luxury hotel, key elements of its original 1950s structure were preserved, blending heritage with progress.
