A Solomons Travel Authorisation (STA) for inbound visitors has commenced in Solomon Islands. Solomon Airlines welcomed the commencement of the trial saying the initiative is a positive innovation. “The introduction of the Solomons Travel Authorisation system is a progressive step, which will improve arrival procedures for inbound visitors to Solomon Islands and safeguard our community at the same time,” said Gus Kraus, CEO of Solomon Airlines.
“As we head into 2023, Solomon Islands has significant tourism opportunities ahead, especially including the Pacific Games which will bring thousands of people to our shores this time next year,” he said. Graus said it is important that the Airline continue to work closely with the government and tourism partners to ensure travelling to the Solomon Islands from international markets is as easy as possible. At the same time he said the Airline must continue to apply appropriate screening procedures.
The Solomon Islands Government commenced roll out the new Solomon Islands Travel Authorisation, effective from today Monday 28th November, including the very first facial biometric Travel Authorisation (FTA) system in the Pacific Islands region. The Solomons Travel Authorisation will combine biometric and biographic information into a single portal system.
Travellers can apply 3 days before their departing flight via the website https://solomons.govtas.com/ or the mobile app “Solomon Travel Authorisation” available on Apple and Google app stores.
