Solomon Airlines’ Mavis Tom wins two Australian Aviation Awards, recognising leadership and technical excellence
Solomon Airlines is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Mrs Mavis Tom, Reservations Systems Manager, who has won two major honours at the 2026 Australian Aviation Awards — Female Aviation Leader of the Year – SME and Rising Star – SME.
Presented in Sydney on Thursday, 6 August 2026, the awards recognise Mavis’ exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and contribution to aviation systems and operations.
Mavis’ achievement highlights the growing recognition of Pacific aviation professionals on the international stage and reflects the expertise and dedication of the Solomon Airlines team.
With eight years at Solomon Airlines, Mavis has played a key role in strengthening the airline’s international operations through her work supporting critical aviation systems, including check-in, boarding, baggage reconciliation, and flight departure processes.
She has led major technology initiatives, including the Departure Control System (DCS) migration at Brisbane Airport from SITA to the Amadeus ACUS cloud-based platform, as well as systems implementation in Auckland supporting immigration and visa compliance requirements.
Mavis also independently implemented Baggage Reconciliation Systems across multiple international ports, including Nadi, Port Vila, Auckland, Brisbane, Honiara, Christchurch, and Port Moresby, strengthening baggage tracking, operational safety, and passenger experience.
Speaking after receiving the awards, Mavis said she was honoured by the recognition and grateful for the support of her colleagues and partners.
“I am incredibly honoured to receive these awards. Over eight years with Solomon Airlines, I have worked on complex aviation systems across multiple international airports. I am grateful to my team and partners, and I hope this recognition encourages more women across the Pacific to pursue careers in aviation and technology.”
