Solomon Islands reaffirms its commitment to the One-China Policy, upholding sovereignty and international law.

Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele, has reaffirmed the Solomon Islands Government’s steadfast commitment to the One-
China Policy, which recognises the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal
representative of China.
Manele reminded all three arms of the state of the importance of upholding the
principles of the United Nations Charter, particularly respect for national sovereignty,
territorial integrity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
The One-China Policy is a widely accepted international framework that recognises there is
only one China, including Taiwan as part of its territory. This policy is central to maintaining
peaceful and stable diplomatic relations and respecting the sovereignty of nations. By
affirming this policy, the Solomon Islands demonstrates its commitment to international law
and its own national interests.
In line with this position, the Prime Minister has directed all government ministries, agencies,
and officials to fully comply with the Government’s policy. This includes the understanding
that there is only one China, and that Taiwan is an integral part of China’s territory.
Accordingly, government officials and public office holders are advised not to engage in any
official capacity with representatives or entities associated with “Taiwan,” China. This
includes official visits, communications, commitments, or participation in events involving
“Taiwan,” China.
This reaffirmation reflects Solomon Islands’ sovereign right to determine its foreign policy in
accordance with its national interests and international obligations. The Government remains
committed to maintaining respectful and principled diplomatic relations with all its partners.
