Upgraded Rove Tactical Training Centre handed over to RSIPF, strengthening specialist police training and operational readiness.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has officially received the upgraded Rove Tactical Training Centre, following an Australian Government investment of approximately SBD5.5 million to strengthen specialist police training and operational readiness.
The facility is expected to provide training opportunities for around 1,000 RSIPF officers each year, including recruits and serving personnel.
Police Minister John Jnr Tuhaika urged the RSIPF to take proper care of the upgraded facility and ensure it remains a valuable training asset for current and future officers.
Speaking at the formal handover, Minister Tuhaika said the centre was an important investment in the professionalism, preparedness and operational capability of the national police service.
“I encourage the RSIPF to make full use of this facility as a platform for continuous learning, leadership development, professional excellence and operational preparedness.”
The Minister said effective policing required continuous professional development, discipline and integrity, stressing that investment in police capability must focus not only on infrastructure and equipment but also on the people using them.
He also stressed the importance of officers upholding the standards expected of them.
“The capability of a police service is measured not only by its skills and resources, but by the character, the conduct and the commitment of the people that you are entrusted to serve.”
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett said the centre represented a significant investment in the future of the RSIPF and the development of a capable, professional and modern police service.
She said the facility would bring key specialist functions together, including close personal protection, operational safety training and the Police Response Department.
“By bringing these teams together in a single location, the TTC will support greater collaboration, greater consistency and operational effectiveness across specialist policing functions.”
Commissioner Barrett said the project had also created local employment opportunities during construction and used materials sourced from communities across Solomon Islands.
The upgraded centre is expected to become a central hub for specialist training and help prepare RSIPF officers for future operational and security challenges.
